Easy to grow and early to mature serrano pepper for those that love some heat in their meals. Well adapted to our climate, and produces loads of slim 4.5-5” dark green peppers with thick internal walls. Excellent disease resistance and long shelf life.
Peppers are ready once they are firm and it’s reached your desired size. If you pick the peppers when they are still young/green, the plant will keep producing more fruit. Fruit that sets after late August will not usually develop or ripen. Pull out the entire bush just before the first frost and hang it upside down in a warm, dry place to ripen hot peppers.
To get the most out of your plants, they will need
- Full sun
- Soil should have abundant phosphorus and calcium
- Will tolerate dry soil, but they will only put on good growth if kept moist but not sopping wet.
- Container Friendly, 5 gallon containers work well, but require good drainage and regular irrigation.
- I always add 1/2 cup each of bone & blood meal as well as all-purpose fertilizer of choice such as rabbit poop, or compost underneath seedling and water well before planting.
Pickup is only available at the end of May, I cannot safely get them to you through courier or post…
